BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in reference to the incident of BNP’s attack on students protesting for quota reform, what the BNP has done in one day on Monday is less than the Pakistanis? They attacked the hospital. Before independence, Pakistan student organization NSF used to brutally torture Dhaka University. Currently, the Awami League government’s student organization Chhatra League is doing the same. They are trying to suppress the democratic and peaceful movement of ordinary students with weapons. But the students’ demands are logical and just. So, today we have to say with hatred and anger that the government party student organization Chhatra League has carried out barbaric attacks on various institutions including Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University. I strongly condemn and protest against it.

He said these things at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club’s Abuds Salam Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (July 16). Bhasani Followers Parishad organized this meeting on the occasion of the birth centenary of Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia, General Secretary of Nationalist Awami Party, a close associate of the oppressed public leader Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani.

Bhasani Anusari Parishad convener Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu chaired and member secretary Dr. Under the leadership of Abu Yusuf Selim, the president of Nagarik Oikya, Jatiya Party (Zafar) Mostafa Jamal Haider, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, former teacher of Dhaka University, Dr. Mahbub Ullah, BNP Vice Chairman Mohammad Shahjahan, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Muktijodha Dal President Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat, Jatiya Party Secretary General Ahsan Habib Lincoln, Noor Mohammad Khan and others.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the situation in Bangladesh is dire. There is no rule of law and democracy in the country. People do not have freedom of speech. The government has systematically banished democracy. The country has become a dependent economy.

Secretary General of BNP said that this attack was carried out not only in Dhaka but in the whole country. The country’s education system is broken. Now everyone should make a movement. Who attacked our children? If we do not stand up at this time, the existence of the country and the nation will be endangered.

Mirza Fakhrul said, Awami League is now bankrupt. He established bureaucratic fascism. I saw Total Fascist yesterday. Even after 53 years of independence, we have to fight for our rights. The Prime Minister canceled the quota system. Again using the courts to make an issue. It is unfortunate for us. But I want to say one thing, we all have to turn around. This government cannot be given any more time.

He said, we want people’s voting rights and democracy back. That is the main problem. We want fair and accountable government, system. But the government is trying to divert people’s attention by creating one issue after another.

The former minister said that Moshiur Rahman had a family relationship with Jadu Mia. He was my father’s classmate. Many call him controversial. But what I saw was that Bangladesh Nationalist Party – BNP was formed. When the martyred President Ziaur Rahman took charge of running the state, he felt the need to form a new political party. One of the few politicians who came at that time was Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia. He even abolished the National Awami Party and merged it into BNP. He showed us the way.

He also said that Jadu Mia was adamant even though many people opposed it. He is one of the founders of BNP. But he did not survive long. He thought for the welfare of Bangladesh. Ziaur Rahman formed a nationalist party by uniting people like him.

Mustafa Jamal Haider said, Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia was a person acceptable to everyone. He worked unitedly with everyone from right and left. What is the situation in the country today? We have to follow in the footsteps of our predecessors and jump into the movement. Because the government is trying to attract attention by creating one issue after another. He returned home from China with a lot of sadness. The prime minister will not be saved by attacking the students protesting for quota reform.

Mahmudur Rahman Manna said that the prime minister said that the students who are protesting for the reform of the quota are razaka. The one who canceled the quota in anger is the one who said at the press conference that he canceled the quota out of emotion! So understand what the situation is? In fact, they are ruthlessly exploiting the country in the name of the spirit of liberation war. How much terror has been unleashed on universities across the country today because of one person criticizing them? There is no alternative to unite to defeat this tyrannical and brutal government.

Professor Dr. Mahbub Ullah said, what Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia has done for the country and the people of the country is rare. He has worked all his life especially for the people of Rangpur region. He especially led the peasant movement. He was well respected in the Indian subcontinent. He left us very soon. I do not know the language to condemn the barbaric attacks on students in Dhaka University and other universities of the country. I call upon the agitators and the injured to stand by.
