That was exactly the approach of a study, the results of which were published earlier this month in the scientific journal PNAS. The eating behavior of 19 subjects was analyzed for 14 days.

The results clearly show that eating very late or during the night is harmful to health. In particular, the mental impact of a late meal cannot be underestimated. 26% of subjects who ate at night or late at night showed signs of depression. 16% had to deal with fears. Those who ate at ‘normal’ times did not suffer from these symptoms. The researchers therefore recommend that you eat during the day, even if you work at night, to protect your mental health.
