AI-ready devices are coming
The artificial intelligence boom that has been taking place in recent years and which accelerated in 2023 will have consequences for the mobile industry in 2024, as manufacturers such as Samsung have already confirmed.
Experts agree: AI will be one of the major new features of phones in 2024 and beyond, and will be a key part of the arguments made by major brands to encourage you to choose their products over those of their competitors.
«AI will serve as a commercial argument and differentiationespecially at the level of content creation and image and video editing. This would include more advanced chips optimized for AI, as well as improvements in processing and graphics capabilities,” says Cristóbal Álvarez, professor at ESIC University.
“In 2024, technology companies will focus on implementing more powerful processors and cameras, probably with the aim of boosting AI applications and, in turn, benefiting from them,” says Carlos García Calatrava, professor at Carlemany University and researcher at the National Supercomputing Centre.
Is AI enough of an argument to change your mobile phone? Not everyone is convinced.
“While new smartphones will be more powerful in every sense, this improvement is something that consumers will not always see as substantial enough to lead to changing their device, especially in times of economic uncertainty,” says García Calatrava.
