The battle for promotion is really nerve-wracking, and at HSV they can tell you a thing or two about it. The 2:2 (0:2) in Magdeburg also demanded everything from those responsible, and this was best seen in Jonas Boldt. The HSV sports board and the cameramen from the Bundesliga TV provider Sportcast had two very special encounters.
Boldt was visibly annoyed when he was shown in close-up after almost an hour. HSV, who were outnumbered, were still seemingly hopelessly behind 0-2 and seemed to be making a classic belly landing. Boldt followed the goings-on from the players’ tunnel behind the dugouts and pointed unmistakably towards the field in the direction of the camera team. His message: Film the game – and not me!
A short dispute that the sports director apparently took note of. When Jonas Meffert headed in deep into stoppage time to make it 2-2, Boldt’s complete tension was released. With his hands clenched into fists, he demonstratively cheered for the cameras and enjoyed the moment of success. Remember: He who laughs last laughs best. Even if it is sometimes a difficult way to get there…
Boldt questioned his own future at HSV
One thing is clear: Boldt’s nerves are of course also tense. If HSV doesn’t make it back into the Bundesliga in the sixth attempt, Boldt could lose his job. Recently he even put a question mark over his HSV future. But he probably left Magdeburg with a bit of satisfaction.
