“Your tanks bring death and destruction,” Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock told the UN General Assembly this week. Since February 24, Putin has been waging a merciless war against Ukraine. The Ukrainian side has so far reported more than 2,000 civilian casualties. More than a million Ukrainians are on the run.
The West is unusually united, opposed to the war and the Ukrainians are fighting resolutely for their freedom. Numerous sanctions have already been imposed on Russia – exclusion from various banks at SWIFT, exclusion from the ESC, the Paralympics and other sporting events, in Germany the Munich chief conductor was fired, the list could go on…
But will these sanctions make Putin give in? Are arms deliveries, also from Germany, the right way? And how do the images of the war from social media affect what is happening?
