What’s on tonight: Stephen King’s son shows Netflix what he learned from dad

Every now and then a series comes along that slips under the radar just because it is defined as intended for the youth or the whole family. Such was the fate of Locke & Key (in Israel they decided to call it “the keys of the Locke family”, but we are cultured and will not degrade to use it), which went up yesterday for its third and final season on Netflix. The series is based on the very excellent comic series of the same name, which ran on the shelves between 2008 and 2013 and gained masses of fans. Its creators are Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez. And what you need to know about Joe Hill is that he is the son of Stephen King and that he received the genes of his father and mother (author Tabitha King). start to fear

Summary of the previous episodes: The young heroes of “Locke & Key” are three brothers whose father was murdered and their mother decides to move with them from Seattle to some hole in Massachusetts, where the historic and gothic-looking house of the Locke family has been located for generations. In the house they discover keys that open doors to magical abilities, as well as a demonic entity that seeks the keys for its own purposes (well, guess what. Yes, she wants to destroy the world, you guys are really good at that). The charm of the television adaptation lies in its dark atmosphere that preserves the spirit of the original, as well as an elaborate production that is even spectacular for episodes, and above all a roaring, branching and sophisticated plot that maintains the tension and mystery convincingly.

There are some great actors here (most notably Kevin Durand as the creepy villain), but what kept Locke & Key from becoming a huge hit like Stranger Things in its first two seasons was that it was a little too dark for young viewers and a little too young for dark viewers, making it A perfect and fun binge for lost kids aged 18-50, which is actually us. Netflix announced at the end of the second season the end of the series at the end of the third season, the creators of the series claimed that before they intended to end it in three seasons, Hollywood freed up to check other works of Steven’s son, and now 28 delightful episodes await you to spend the weekend with. Everyone is satisfied.
