Type na by This is an old variety of na with thick skin, thick pulp and sweet taste. But in the past, it was “disgraced”, causing many gardeners to cut it down and switch to growing na dai to suit the tastes of consumers.

But in the past few years, na bo has suddenly become a hot commodity, sought after by gourmets. Accordingly, na has become an extremely expensive item, 4-5 times the price of na dai.

In the market, Vip custard apples are always in a state of “sold out” even though they are in the harvest season.

Talk to PV. VietNamNet, Ms. Van Ngoc Lan, owner of a fruit shop in Thanh Xuan district (Hanoi) admitted that the harvest was in full swing, every day her shop imported 2 quintals of Vip type but still not enough goods to sell.

She is selling Vip products of 3 sizes/kg for 180,000 VND/kg. This price level she has maintained for 4 years, has never cooled down because the market is always in a state of insufficient supply and demand.

“Na bo fragrant, sweet taste, when eating it feels like it melts in your mouth, completely different from na dai,” she said. This is also the reason why she is sought after by gourmets, many people become regular customers of her shop.

Ms. Lan said, most of the customers who buy na by order from 3 to 5 kg because when they receive the custard apple, the fruit is still hard, wait until it’s ripe to eat it.

“Yesterday, a customer ordered 50kg of vip. Due to taking large quantities, I sell for 160,000 VND/kg. Calculated this order up to 8 million, “she further revealed.

According to her, the monsoon season starts from the end of July of the solar calendar. At the beginning of the season, the na bo was not fully ripe, so customers who wanted to eat had to wait 1-2 days, because each day she could only return a few dozen pounds. From mid-August in the main harvest season, na boi return 2-3 quintals per day.

I am selling both na bo and na dai. The most expensive price of na dai is 60,000 VND / kg, while the price of small fruits is also up to 110,000 VND, selected fruits cost 170,000-190,000 VND / kg depending on the time. At the store, na dai is always available; Only when the goods arrive, they are sold out, there is no inventory.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tien – owner of the original 1,500 nana garden in Chi Lang – shared that in the past, the area was specialized in the area where he planted a lot of coriander. However, the demand for na dai is not high, the resale price is low, so the gardeners decided to cut it down and switch to growing na dai. Also because of that, na is gradually becoming a rare commodity, the price skyrocketed.

In 2018, his garden only had 5 locust trees, customers came to the place to pay a deposit to buy at a high price. In recent years, he has expanded the area to more than 100 trees, the trees have also been harvested.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung – Director of Lien Khe Agricultural Production, Business – Service Cooperative (Hai Phong), said that the cooperative’s bread has been sold for 130,000-140,000 VND/kg since the beginning of the crop.

At present, na bo has entered the main harvest season. A day, the cooperative collects 2-3 tons of na. This quantity is mainly exported to fruit shops in Hanoi and some provinces.

“The cooperative area is only 100 hectares, the output is estimated at 700 tons. Na harvested every day depending on the ripe fruit more or less. So, there are days when there won’t be enough goods to pay for wholesalers,” he said.

Gardeners in Dong Trieu are also harvesting na dai and selling them for 45,000-50,000 VND/kg. Particularly, coriander is purchased from the garden by traders, priced at 120,000 VND/kg (300-350 grams/fruit) because the growing area is only about 70ha.
