WhatsApp is willing to fight with Telegram and has undergone enormous evolution in recent years with updates such as the survey function, reactions to messages, the possibility of scheduling events or new security layers.
The messaging platform announced last year that it would integrate pinned messages into chats. The purpose is to facilitate the tracking of important information within conversations. The novelty was successful among users although it fell somewhat short: on March 21 increased the limit of featured messages to three per chat.
The application only allowed one message to be pinned and if users tried to highlight one more, WhatsApp replaced the previously saved text with the new one. Now it also allows you to pin emojis, images and polls.
The new pinned message limit will apply to individual and group chats. This feature promises to improve navigation in the application since users will be able to access the most relevant information at the second, from the time of a meeting to the address of a restaurant.
How to pin a message in a WhatsApp chat
The method for pinning an item in a chat has not changed: you must long press the message and select the “Pin” option from the menu at the top.
WhatsApp will allow users to choose the period during which messages will be pinned. The default option is 7 days, but it is also possible for only 24 hours or up to 30 days.
Group chat administrators have the power to decide whether all members can pin messages. If you restrict the option, only administrators (if there are several) will be able to highlight them.
The fixed elements appear as a floating window at the top of the chat. Users can click the icon to directly access information without having to navigate through thousands of messages in a conversation.
