WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned) tests a new feature that allows users to generate new stickers using generative artificial intelligence. The feature is currently in beta for Android, and it’s currently unknown when it will be released to the stable version on iOS.
Users will be able to set a textual description of the stickers, and a generative neural network will model them. WhatsApp believes that with the help of the new feature, users will be able to create stickers with more personalized images. It is not specified which neural network is used to generate stickers. If necessary, users will be able to report inappropriate content.
Earlier, WhatsApp added the ability to create stickers from photos: to create your own sticker, you need to extract the necessary object from the photo and insert it into the chat: the messenger will automatically pick up the picture and add it to the user’s sticker collection.
