Instagram and Facebook have taken the lead – now WhatsApp is following suit: Personal avatars can now be created in the messenger app. This means: More individual and creative scope for users. Avatar function: Now also with Whatsapp
And what are the avatars good for? The virtual counterparts can be used both as a WhatsApp profile picture and as a sticker in the chat. This should be particularly interesting for those who do not want to show a real picture of themselves and prefer to remain anonymous. There are hardly any limits to creativity – the company Meta offers many different design options. With the avatars it is then possible to create a set of 36 personalized stickers – with different emotions or with different actions.
After a test run lasting several months, the avatars are now available on WhatsApp – they had previously been introduced to the meta group’s other apps, Instagram and Facebook. According to the official announcement, the distribution of the corresponding update will begin worldwide with immediate effect. So it may take a while before all users have the new function.
And this is how you get the new avatars
First, the app needs to be updated to the latest version. After that, the Avatar option is located in the application’s settings menu. With a click on the corresponding editor you have a large selection of face and body shapes, hairstyles and outfits. After completion, there is then the option to set the avatar as a profile picture or to dig through the pre-made sticker selection. Didn’t find the right look? Just try again later!
