WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and is banned) allowed users can send videos in HD quality. Previously, the standard resolution for videos in the messenger was 864×480, but now users can send clips in resolutions up to 1280×720.
To send a video in HD quality, when sending a message, click on the HD icon at the top of the screen. A menu will appear with a choice of standard and HD quality. High quality videos in chat will be marked HD in the lower left corner. Users will be able to choose whether to download the video in high or lower quality. WhatsApp previously allowed sending HD photos and began testing the ability to send photos and videos without compression.
