WhatsApp stops supporting iOS 10 and iOS 11 devices

WhatsApp is soon planning to stop support for a few iOS devices, as the messaging app will no longer work with iPhones running iOS 10 and iOS 11 starting later this year.

Many users of the app reported that it was planning to stop support for iOS 10 and iOS 11 at the end of last year, but that didn’t happen then.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is now warning iPhone users using iOS 10 or iOS 11 that they need to update their iPhones in order to continue using the app after October 24.

The platform usually stops supporting some versions of Android and iOS, to allow the company to offer certain functions that may not work across older operating systems.

It mentions Official WhatsApp Help Center iOS 12 and later are designated as supported and recommended operating systems.

A note posted within the center said: Update the latest iOS version to continue using WhatsApp. The app stops supporting this version of iOS after October 24, 2022. Please go to Settings > General and tap Software Update to select the latest iOS version.

iPhone phones affected by the WhatsApp decision

With that in mind, users with these iPhones will not be able to use the app starting in October.
