In its continued quest to offer greater privacy, WhatsApp has implemented a new level of security for blocked chats. In May, it introduced the option to lock chats with a password, but there was still the possibility of detecting the presence of hidden chats. Now, an additional adjustment guarantees total discretion.

Hidden Chats: Beyond the Fingerprint
Previously, WhatsApp allowed you to selectively hide some chats without the need to protect the entire application with your fingerprint. However, upon swiping down, the “Blocked Chats” folder was revealed, indicating the existence of hidden chats. The new feature solves this problem by entering a secret code to unlock chats.
Secret Code for Maximum Discretion
The new setting, currently being rolled out to beta users, allows you to completely hide the “Blocked Chats” folder from the main list. When activating the “Hide Blocked Chats” option, a unique secret code must be set, which can be any text or even emojis. The essence lies in choosing a code that only the user knows and is difficult to guess.
Invisibility in the Chat List
Once the feature is activated, blocked chats will no longer appear when you swipe down the chat list. Instead, they will only be revealed by searching for the secret code in the WhatsApp search engine. Upon entering the code, the “Locked Chats” folder will be displayed, allowing direct access to private chats without having to use the device’s biometrics.
Enhanced Privacy: Virtually Invisible Chats
This new implementation ensures that private chats remain virtually invisible on WhatsApp, even for those with physical access to the unlocked device. WhatsApp remains committed to improving the privacy of its users, providing advanced options to protect the most sensitive information.
