Wheat fields near the highway to Plovdiv-Agro Plovdiv were burning

Because of fire in wheat fields end Thrace highway to Plovdiv traffic was restricted after 3:30 p.m. today.

Thick smoke billowed over the freeway, causing traffic to be diverted in both directions.

At the 126th kilometer on the road to Sofia, the cars stopped at the village of Trud. At the 118th kilometer to Burgas, the diversion was via Plovdiv, BNR reported.

The fire has already been contained, and traffic on the highway has been restored, reports the OD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Plovdiv. Firefighters with five fire engines continue to put out the flames.
