“If our children can go to school at 7 in the morning, why can’t we as judges work from 9 in the morning. I am also of the opinion that the court should start early at 9 am,” said Justice Lalit.

He further said, “Supreme court sessions can start at 9 am and continue till 11.30 pm. After a break of half an hour, it should start again at 12 pm and end at 2 pm. This will give us time to do more work in the evening.”

After Chief Justice NV Ramana retires on August 26, Lalit will take over as the next Chief Justice of India on August 27. It is noteworthy that he will continue to serve as the Chief Justice till November 8.
