With the aim of reducing electronic waste and avoiding that consumers have to buy new cables and chargers with each device purchase, the negotiators of the European Parliament and of the Twenty-seven have reached an agreement on Tuesday to impose the single USB-C charger.

The measure will come into force in two years, from fall 2024, and will apply to fifteen portable electronic devices. The standard includes mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headsets, video game consoles and also navigation devices, eReaders, wireless mini-headsets or keyboards.
