A new process has begun in the Guatemala Under 20 National Team, which played two friendly matches under the technical direction of Marvin Cabrera.

In the first duel, which took place at the Rubelio Recinos stadium on November 21, the Blue and White won by a score of 3 goals to 0. The scorers were Matthew Evans (double) and Daniel Méndez.

On Thursday, November 23, they met again and again the Bicolor got a positive result, but this time the score was lower.

The result was 1-0 and the owner of the score was Daniel Méndez, a soccer player who belongs to the lower categories of Club Pachuca in Mexico.

When does the process towards a new World Cup begin?

This process that is in charge of Marvin Cabrera aims to return to a World Cup again, however, for that he will have to overcome his first challenge, which is the Qualifier for the Concacaf Under 20 Men’s Championship that will take place from February 23 to March 2, 2024.

Guatemala is in Group C which it shares with Aruba, Saint Martin and Barbados. All of those matches take place at the Doroteo Guamuch Flores Stadium.

After the group stage, The first places in each group will advance to the 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championshipjoining the highest ranked nations (United States, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic).

The championship will consist of 12 teams and is scheduled for summer 2024 and will feature the top 12 U20 men’s national teams in the region, divided into three groups of four. After a group stage, the two best teams in each group and the two best third places will advance to a knockout stage composed of quarterfinals, semifinals and final. At the end of the competition, The top four teams (semifinalists) will qualify for the Fifa Under 20 World Cup 2025.
