“It (communication with the community – ELTA) must be rational. We are certainly not going to compensate for any real, or rather imaginary, depreciation of real estate or something like that,” explained I. Urbanavičiūtė in an interview with “Verslo žinios”.

July I. Urbanavičiūtė, who started managing Homanit Lietuva, admitted that mistakes were made in order to connect with the community. However, she emphasizes that dialogue cannot take place when certain community representatives demand the demolition of the factory.

“I have to admit that mistakes were made on the part of Homanit, there was a lack of transparency, a lack of goodwill in communicating with the community. Errors need to be corrected”, said the head of Homanit Lietuvos.

“In a broad sense, it is necessary to start with a dialogue with the community, which does not exist yet. I also ask myself what the community is. Do we know the will of the community or marginal groups? I’m new enough, I want to understand, but first we need a dialogue. It cannot take place when it is said that the factory must be demolished,” she commented.

She assured that the shareholders of “Homanit Lietuvos” intend to invest in the public infrastructure of Pagiri.

I. Urbanavičiūtė assures that the environmental impact assessment of the factory is still valid

The manager of “Homanit Lietuva” also emphasized that the environmental impact assessment of the factory is valid, so it can legally carry out its activities. It claims that the idea floating around that the activity has not started because the assessment has been withdrawn is “fundamentally untrue”.

“The community appealed the issuance to the environmental impact assessment agency, not even Homanit.” There were many points, all of which are related to the impact on the environment in terms of pollution were rejected. There is one point left about the use of diesel, but it affects all objects on the territory. He was rejected. Our environmental impact assessment is still valid”, explained I. Urbanavičiūtė.

“The environmental impact assessment was carried out before the construction of the production facilities began. It is valid,” she emphasized.

She assured that when the evaluation of the future factory was carried out, it was taken into account that it would be located on the territory of the waterhole.

“It (environmental impact assessment – ELTA) takes into account the fact that the factory is located in a water protection zone,” she assured.

Currently, the construction of the Homanit factory is being completed, it will produce about 1 thousand per day. cubic meters of wood panels and could reach 60-70 million in the first year of operation. euro turnover. According to I. Urbonavičiūtė, the pace of production will accelerate in the future, and finishing works of panels will be started, which will significantly increase profits.

“We estimate very roughly that we’re looking at 60-70 million just by making the blanks, and doing it relatively slowly.” EUR annual turnover,” she said.

ELTA reminds that at the beginning of May, the Administrative Court of Regions ordered the Environmental Protection Agency to re-evaluate the environmental impact assessment report of the wood fiber board factory being built in Pagirių village of Vilnius district by the company “Homanit Lietuva”. This factory, as the court informed, would operate in the protection zone of the drinking water aquifer, where economic activities are strictly restricted.

Pagiriau village community “Medeina” said that they are convinced that “Homanit Lietuva”, which wants to carry out production in this area, plans to use chemicals. According to residents, the Environmental Protection Agency did not assess this risk.

According to the community, in May of last year, the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (LVAT) declared that the order of the Geological Service of Lithuania under the Ministry of Environment to reduce the Pagiria watershed was illegal. However, the ministry ignores such a decision and seeks to change the Law on Special Conditions of Land Use, thus allowing unlimited chemical activities in the protection zones of water bodies.

Due to the ministry’s desire to reduce the Pagiria watershed and allow businesses to carry out construction both on its territory and on the territory of other watersheds, the community of Pagiriau village organized a picket at the Ministry of Environment both in July and in early August.

Homanit’s investment in the wood fiber board factory planned to be built on the territory of the factory located in the village of Pagiriai amounts to 200 million. euros.
