When things get colorful in politics

by time news

In January, the color is rare and on some days the sadness is so powerful that it is not enough to wear red boots. The search for something colorful makes me get on the U5 at Alexanderplatz in the direction of the government district, where the recently completed Luisenblock West can be visited. The plan matured while reading an article in another newspaper. The author’s reflections on the difference between colorfulness and colorfulness and the importance of the latter when governing have settled in my head and lead a dissolute life there.

The path towards the Bundestag is as black and white as anyone in their right mind could wish for in politics. Rotes Rathaus, Unter den Linden, Brandenburger Tor: Brilliant chic, cool elegance, one is happy about the light after the tunnel, but life is not in the train stations. Their names are the only thing that tempts them to get out, otherwise there is a sense of detachment. Only under the Museum Island do you really feel embraced by the sparkling sky. Someday I’ll come sleepless, count the stars.

The station “Bundestag” can show some shades of gray, after all. They are repeated above in the facades, in the people’s coats, and in the Spree. Reflected in the glass of the Chancellery and Co. You’re almost delighted with the yellow of the DHL vehicles, the blue of the police, even with the splashes of color in the form of rental scooters. The all too harmonious overall picture disturbs the day care center in the most beautiful way, whose swimming pool blue is more than a pleasant footnote. “Something new is growing here,” the flat building seems to say, “here you still dare to do something.” And the bobby cars and tiny bicycles in all colors behind the window don’t have to confirm that at all. One also believes so.

There are already signs. The members of the new parliament, more than ever before, work behind colored surfaces, more than one sees in this colorful city. The Luisenblock West proves that seriousness can have nuances. He blends in with the whole without ducking down, stands out without pushing himself to the fore. He exudes confidence and the certainty that politics must also be colourful. Or colored. Unlike in architecture, it makes no difference here. What counts is that delivery services, company cars and carelessly parked rental bikes do not have to be used for both.
