Karaikudi- As many streets in Karaikudi municipality are in darkness, there has been a demand for the installation of LED lights as soon as possible.
There are 36 wards in Karaikudi Municipality. After the completion of the underground sewer works, the construction of the new road was started.
With the completion of the road work, the public and the councilors continued to demand that the damaged electric poles be replaced and the street lights be repaired.
Chairman Muthuthurai said that 600 street lights are to be converted into LED lights in Karaikudi Municipality and Rs.3.68 crore has been allocated for this purpose.
But this work was not done even after several months. People report that if they complain about the streetlights not working, they delay the replacement of LED lights.
Due to this, many streets under the municipality are plunged in darkness.
Therefore, there is an expectation that the installation of LED lights should be implemented quickly.
Commissioner Lakshmanan said; A tender has been issued and a work order has been issued to convert all the street lights in the municipality to LED lights. The installation of lights will be done soon. said.
