After defeating Pakistan on their soil, now Bangladesh’s mission is India series. The two Test wins against Babar Azam have boosted the expectations for this series manifold. All-rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraj is making such comments.
“When we play well, everyone’s expectations rise. It is important that we play well. If we can do that, we will be able to fulfill our own expectations’, said Miraj about the expectations of the India series at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla on Monday (September 09).
Bangladesh will fly to India on September 15. The series will start with the Test in Chennai on the 19th. The second and final Test will be held in Kanpur from September 27. Then there will be T20 series on 6, 9 and 12 October.
Miraj feels the series against India will be challenging, ‘Every series is challenging. Since we did well in the Pakistan series, there is not much gap with this series. Performing, everyone is in good form. If everyone is in good form in India too, then surely good things can be expected.’
“Look, there are always challenges in Test cricket. Every session, every ball, everything is a challenge. For batsmen, bowlers, everyone. India is definitely a good team. Their bowlers are very good. The batsmen are also very good. The wicket they have… we have played there before. We have experience with the behavior of wickets. I think the wicket will be very good there. If we stay the way we are playing, if we think about performing without thinking about the result, then good results will come’ – Miraj added.
Bangladesh last visited India in 2019. Seva couldn’t fight at all with bat and ball. This time the context is slightly different. Bangladesh have won 5 of the last 8 Tests. Pakistan has defeated teams like New Zealand.
Miraj said, ‘There will definitely be challenges. We have played Tests on Indian soil before. Our past performance was not good. We are going with an expectation this time. Hopefully, we will try to enjoy the expectations that they have. When we can fight them, we have a chance to do well. We will try to fight with them.
