Where and when will the second round of elections take place

The Main Electoral Commission (GEC) informs that on March 19, a repeat voting will be held in 34 Lithuanian municipalities. Voters who for various reasons will not be able to take part on this day are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to vote early.

Early re-voting will take place from 14 to 16 March from 7.00 to 20.00.

It is possible to exercise one’s electoral right ahead of schedule in all Lithuanian municipalities, and even in those where mayors have already been elected.

Only those voters who have declared their place of residence in the local governments where the second round of elections are being held can vote early throughout Lithuania, the press release notes.

Voters in whose municipalities the mayors were already elected in the first round of elections will no longer be able to take part in the voting.

On the day of the repeat voting – March 19 – voters must arrive at the polling stations in the local government in which their place of residence is declared before January 4, 2023. Voting will take place from 7.00 to 20.00.

Repeat voting outside polling stations

Voters who are unable to come to the polling stations for valid reasons may vote at special polling stations.

In the period from March 15 to March 17, voting will be organized in hospitals, social protection and social security institutions, military units and penitentiary institutions.

On March 17-18, members of election commissions organize voting at voters’ homes. Persons with disabilities, persons caring for persons with disabilities at home, as well as persons unable to work as a result of illness can vote at home. As before, voters aged 70 and over can vote in this election at home. Voters with the right to vote at home can register by calling 1855. Voters who registered to vote at home in the first round of elections do not need to do anything else, the press release says.

Sunday, March 19, voters are invited to their polling stations to express their civil will. Polling stations will begin their work at 7.00 o’clock. and will end at 20:00.

Voting abroad in the elections of mayors and municipal councils will not be organized.
