The autonomous car, understood as a vehicle capable of carrying out all the functions of driving to transport us from one place to another, without the need for a human to intervene, is already possible from a technological point of view. But as is often the case in other areas, the challenge now arises to adapt it to reality and, in particular, to the regulatory framework, so that it advances at the same speed as technology has done.

Will we be able to reach it? Will the legislator be up to the task and know how to redesign the civil liability system for circulation? Will the insurance sector face the challenge successfully and will it be able to reinvent itself and put new forms of insurance on the market in accordance with the new risk created?

These and other doubts are answered in the doctrinal article of the latest issue of the journal RCprepared by J.uan Antonio Belón Laurín, responsible for March RS fleet claims

Among the contents of this number, the Critical Study is carried out by María Medina Alcoz, Professor of Civil Law at the Rey Juan Carlos Universitywhich illustrates with some interesting notes on the civil liability of the person with disabilities, after the reform operated by Law 8/2021.

In addition, in Consumer Law, the protection of consumers in criminal proceedings is analyzed. And the director’s letter refers, as a result of different decisions of the Supreme Court, to the legal nature of civil liability insurance.
