Where the region’s railway network could grow

by time news

Potsdam/ Berlin – The rail network in the state of Brandenburg has shrunk for many years. Now the chances of it growing again a bit in the future are up. Much later than the transport departments in other federal states, the Brandenburg Ministry of Infrastructure had an investigation carried out into which closed railway lines and stations could be considered for reactivation – and which not. Now the results are on the table. It is recommended that eight routes be examined more closely – including to Altlandsberg, Rüdersdorf and Ketzin in Havelland. “I’m not really satisfied,” said Ketzin’s mayor Bernd Lück (FDP) of the Berliner Zeitung. Steffen Blunk from the Wriezener Bahn initiative does not expect things to change quickly. Peter Cornelius from the Pro Bahn Berlin-Brandenburg passenger association assumes that “it is urgently necessary to rework it”.
