56 percent of the HR managers surveyed plan to train their employees to use AI.

Düsseldorf The foundry mechanic never expected that Volkan Özmen would become one of the pioneers in terms of artificial intelligence (AI) at Mercedes. But then he spent nine months studying programming languages, machine learning and data protection two days a week. The 32-year-old now works as a data specialist for the Dax group.

Özmen seized the opportunity for further training. “I wanted to shape my own destiny,” he says of his move from the workshop to an office job. Now it brings together huge amounts of data from control and monitoring systems, from which AI then compiles the most important information for the management of the electrics and electronics production area.

Whether data-driven factory or AI models like Chat GPT in the office – artificial intelligence is changing our everyday work drastically. A survey of more than 300 HR managers by the German Society for Personnel Management (DGFP) shows that 56 percent of those surveyed plan to train their employees to use AI.
