La Switzerland, the most attractive country in the world for young talent. This is shown by the Global Talent Competitiveness Index 2022 edition. In this annual ranking, published this Thursday by Insead, the Portulans Institute and the Human Capital Leadership Institute, France remained in 19th place. , as in 2021, as pointed out Le Figaro.

Several criteria are taken into account: quality of education, lifelong training, flexibility of the labor market… All this combined, Switzerland wins, followed by Singapore and Denmark, which finishes on the podium for the first time. In all, 133 countries were surveyed.

France lacks labor flexibility

France is one of the best nations in terms of continuous training, throughout a career, ranking in 4th place; stands out for its talented production – 9th place -; and by its high-quality education – 15th place. To this, studies show that “France is a country in which it is pleasant to live, certain medium-sized cities really attract talent” supports Bruno Lanvin, co-founder of the index at Insead.

On the other hand, France fails in its flexibility of the labor market, far from European standards, in its employability with a pitiful 43rd place, and in its learning speed. Insead invites the country, to climb in the ranking, to improve its “external openness” towards foreign talent, and its “internal openness”. This would go through “greater tolerance towards minorities and immigrants”, according to the ranking.

A trend already studied by the government in its immigration bill. Olivier Dussopt, Minister of Labour, and Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, announced on Wednesday that they were considering the creation of a “job in tension” residence permit.
