Donald Trump compared his opponent in the race for the White House Kamala Harris to his wife Melania in a two-hour conversation with billionaire Elon Musk on the X platform.
The debate, which was due to start at 3 a.m. on Tuesday, was delayed by 40 minutes due to a suspected hacking attack. After the connection was restored, over 2 million people tuned in as listeners.
In the conversation, Trump noted that Kamala “looked a lot like our great first lady Melania” on the cover of Time magazine, while also getting her name wrong more than once, calling her Camilla. The Republican clarified that his wife “doesn’t look like Camilla, but of course she’s a beautiful woman,” and even stated that the cover depicted the Democratic candidate as
“the most beautiful actress, once lived”
That rather odd compliment didn’t stop Trump from criticizing both Harris and Joe Biden.
His criticism of Kamala was in the context of migration, with the Republican calling her a “failed border czar.” He accused her of “pretending to do something” while “millions of illegal immigrants” enter the US. Illegal immigration is among Trump’s main narratives. He claims that many criminals from countries in Africa and Asia are being taken out of prisons and driven to the US with orders to “never return or you will be executed”.
The Republican described Biden’s withdrawal from the election as a coup, and later attacked him, saying that “30 years ago he had a low IQ” and “now he may not have any” and described his condition as “close to a vegetable.” However, according to Trump, “Kamala is worse than him (Biden)”. “She is a liberal who destroyed San Francisco, and then, as attorney general, destroyed California as well,” the contender for a second presidential term sharply cut off.
Trump did not miss the topic of the war in Ukraine, saying once again that Russia would not have invaded Ukrainian territory if he had been president. I know Zelensky. He was very respectful to me,” explained the Republican.
Trump also commented on his relations with other leaders, for example Kim Jong Un. “They are smart and malicious,” he said, referring to North Korea’s leader and Putin, adding that successfully dealing with them requires a firm hand in the White House.
