A Norwegian family living on the island of Jomfruland accidentally found objects that became the first evidence that the island was inhabited during the Viking Age.

While trying to find a lost gold earring, the family turned on a metal detector and came across a cup-shaped buckle, as well as a second artifact, the details of which were not released.

The age of the finds is estimated at approximately 800 years.
