The Ukrainian defense intelligence unit took part in the operation. They successfully detected and neutralized the Strela-10 system, effectively eliminating a key Russian air defense element in the region.
“On this day, the operators of the enemy anti-aircraft defense celebrated the Day of the Air Defense Forces of Russia, so they received a well-deserved congratulations. As a result of this attack, the Russian Strela-10 system no longer fires – the system has been neutralized!” Ukrainian Defense Intelligence reported.
The 9K35 Strela-10 (Russian: 9К35 Стрела-10) is a Soviet highly mobile, short-range surface-to-air missile system. It is guided visually and uses optical/infrared guidance. The system is primarily designed to attack low-altitude threats, such as helicopters.
The basis of the system is the combat vehicle “9А34”, built on the chassis of the light tracked armored vehicle “MT-LB”.
