Whimsical Wines: Brutal Drops for Hells Angels and Dracula | life & knowledge

by time news

There are always crazy names for great wines! In Portugal, a brilliant red wine is made under the name “Brutalis”.

Germany is particularly rich in unusual names for vineyard sites. At the Kaiserstuhl, Joachim Heger makes what I personally think is the best German Chardonnay in the historic location with the beautiful name “Gras im Ofen”. In Rheinhessen there is the “Oppenheimer Sackträger”.

Also on the Kaiserstuhl we find the “Oberrotweiler Henkenberg”. The name says it all: the place of execution with gallows and other instruments was once located here.

Wine columnist Martin S. Lambeck explains what the wines “Charming”, “New Chapter” and “Silver Bullet” are all about – only at BILDplus!
