White House and CNN Condemn Mark Levin’s Attack on CNN Anchors’ Jewish Heritage

In a recent incident that has shocked the media world, Fox News radio host Mark Levin faced denouncement from both the White House and CNN after he launched a scathing attack on the Jewish heritage of two CNN anchors. While discussing CNN’s coverage of Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza on his radio show, Levin derogatorily described anchors Wolf Blitzer and Jake Tapper as “self-hating Jews.”

The White House wasted no time in joining CNN in condemning Levin’s remarks. Andrew Bates, the deputy White House press secretary, expressed deep concern, stating, “Not only is Fox News aligning with those who fan the flames of hate – Fox is paying their salaries.” Bates strongly emphasized that lying to insult the pain of Holocaust victims has no place in America, and he lamented that this was not the first instance of a Fox News host making offensive remarks about the Holocaust in recent months.

Levin’s attack on Blitzer’s heritage was particularly misguided. Contrary to the baseless claims made by Levin, Blitzer’s parents were indeed impacted by Nazi concentration camps, and his grandparents tragically lost their lives in the Holocaust. CNN promptly refuted Levin’s false assertions and condemned his remarks as “wildly uninformed, inappropriate, and shameful.” The network further emphasized that Levin’s rhetoric is not only offensive but also dangerous and called for universal condemnation against his anti-Semitic language.

Responding to CNN’s criticism, Levin defended himself on his radio show, accusing the network of attempting to “intimidate” and “silence” him. Describing CNN as “one of the most pro-Hamas media outlets in the country,” Levin also made similar remarks about MSNBC.

Levin, who hosts both a weekday radio show and a weekend television talk show on Fox News Channel, now faces backlash and scrutiny from various quarters. The Hill has reached out to Fox News for comment regarding this incident.

It is essential for media organizations and individuals to exercise responsibility and respect when discussing sensitive issues such as religion and the Holocaust. Such divisive and offensive remarks not only undermine journalistic integrity but also contribute to a climate of hate and misinformation. The condemnation from the White House and CNN serves as a reminder that hate speech has no place in America and should be firmly denounced.
