Coimbatore: In the incident where a student committed suicide due to sexual harassment, an inquiry is being held into who provided psychological counseling at the school before the death of the student.

Mithun Chakraborty, 35, a private school teacher, sexually assaulted a 17-year-old student from Coimbatore and the student committed suicide by stabbing himself at his home. In this connection, the All Women Police arrested the teacher Mithun Chakraborty in the ‘Pokcho’ section. The police also registered a case against the school principal Mira Jackson, 46, in the Pokcho section.

When the teacher finds out about the sexual harassment, the school arranges to provide psychological counseling to the student. Police are investigating who provided this psychological counseling and whether he is an accredited psychological counselor. Privates are also investigating whether the other two persons mentioned in the letter were responsible for the student’s suicide.

The Tamil Nadu Child Protection Commission is conducting an inquiry today into the status of the student suicide case. A four-member inquiry has been set up, including commission chairperson Saraswati Rangasamy and lawmaker Ramaraj.
