The auction for players participating in the 15th series of IPL cricket started yesterday in Bangalore. The auction still takes place today. A total of 1,214 people, including 896 Indian players and 318 foreign players, had expressed interest in participating in the 2022 auction. Of these, 590 players’ applications were considered and the final list was released recently.
Accordingly, Mumbai Indians bought Ishan Kishan in the first day auction held yesterday. Mumbai Indians, a five-time champions, did not bid for Ishant Kishon in the beginning. Later, when Ishaan Kishon was auctioned off, the team bought him for Rs 15.25 crore.
Ishant Kishan has become the second most expensive Indian player in IPL history.

Out of the total Rs 90 crore, Mumbai Indians spent Rs 42 crore to retain players like Rohit Sharma (Rs 16 crore), Jaspreet Bumra (Rs 12 crore), Suryakumar Yadav (Rs 8 crore) and Kieran Pollard (Rs 6 crore). They need to build a team with a maximum of 25 players. Of these, four players have already been booked, and there are currently 21 open slots, seven of which may be foreign cricketers.

Mumbai Indians’ Ishant Kishan – Rs 15.25 crore, Dewalt Privice – Rs 3 crore, Basil Thampi – Rs. 30 lakh, Murugan Aswin – Rs 1.6 crore as against Rs 21.15 crore. The team is participating in the second day of the auction with the remaining Rs 27.85 crore.
