The Omani Ministry of Health explained, through its official account on the “Instagram” website, the groups most at risk of developing high cholesterol. Here is the list.

  • Men after the age of 50 and women after the age of 60

High cholesterol can be prevented by adopting healthy lifestyles, such as physical activity, proper nutrition, and smoking cessation.

And the Saudi Ministry of Health stated, on its website, that the term high cholesterol means that you have more cholesterol in the blood than the body needs. When people talk about high cholesterol, they usually mean total cholesterol in the blood.

The Saudi Ministry of Health indicated that high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), also known as bad cholesterol, increases atherosclerosis.

She pointed out that high levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), which is known as the good cholesterol, protects a person from atherosclerosis, and this is also due to the fact that HDL removes cholesterol from the lining of the arteries.
