Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) will continue inspections of the production of the Sputnik V vaccine scheduled for March in case of permission from the UN security service and depending on the development of the situation in the region, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the WHO press service.

“On-site inspections are planned for March, but will depend on the permission of the UN security service and the development of the situation in the region,” the WHO said.

In June 2021, a WHO expert group identified violations in the production of Sputnik V in Ufa at the Pharmstandard-UfaVITA enterprise. After that, the issue of approving the Russian vaccine was put on hold until a new inspection of the manufacturing plant was carried out. In October, WHO resumed the procedure for registration of the drug.

At the end of December, WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris said that the process of recognizing Sputnik V by the organization is being delayed due to the ongoing study of the technical dossier for the drug. On January 20, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko announced that the Russian side had handed over to WHO a complete dossier on Sputnik V.
