Mumbai: There is a fierce battle between the Indian players (Indian National Cricket Team) to be included in the T20 World Cup (T20 World Cup 2022) squad. Especially players including Sanju Samson are fiercely competing for the wicket keeper position. Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik and Ishan Kishan are the other wicket keepers who are competing to make the team apart from Sanju. Former Aussie captain Ricky Ponting has selected India’s wicketkeeper batsmen in the World Cup from them.

We have seen how good Rishabh Pant is in ODIs. I personally know his excellence in T20 cricket. Dinesh Karthik’s best IPL season is over. Indian batting line-up with Rishabh Pant batting three or four overs followed by DK or Hardik Pandya is very dangerous. Suryakumar is unlikely to be left out of the playing eleven with his current form. It is difficult to pick an XI from a very talented Indian team. I will choose Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik as wicketkeepers for the World Cup team over Ishan Kishan,’ said Ponting on the ICC Review Show.

Will Sanju play in the World Cup?

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson, who performed well against Ireland, is not sure whether he will be in the T20 World Cup team. When the T20 squad for the West Indies tour was announced, Sanju’s name was not there. Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan are all in the team who are playing in bad form while Sanju who was part of the ODI team was left out of the T20. After his innings of 77 runs against Ireland, Sanju has not got a chance to play in the Indian team. With repeated omissions from the Indian squad, speculation is that Sanju is not in the BCCI’s plans for the T20 World Cup in Australia in October.

Indian T20 squad for West Indies tour: Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul (fitness critical), Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav (fitness critical), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.
