The World Health Organization hopes to lower its maximum alert level for Covid-19 this year, estimating that the epidemic is on the verge of now representing a threat similar to that of seasonal flu.

“I think we’re getting to the point where we can look at Covid-19 the same way we look at seasonal flu, which is a health threat, a virus that will continue to kill, but it’s a virus that’s not disrupting our society. or our health systems,” WHO emergency program chief Michael Ryan told a news conference.
