WHO drastically changes Covid-19 vaccine recommendations

It recommends that high-risk people receive an additional dose 12 months after their last booster.

The World Health Organization defines the high-risk population as older adults and those with other significant risk factors as younger people. Depending on factors such as age and immunodeficiency, an additional shot of the vaccine is recommended 6 or 12 months after the last dose.

It urges countries to consider other risk factors before recommending the vaccine. Notably, some high-income countries such as the United Kingdom and Canada are already providing high-risk people with Covid-19 (COVID-19) boosters.
