Turkey’s Foreign Minister has sent an official letter to the UN asking him to change the name of his country in English to be Turkiy and not Turkey.

The Turkish news agency reported that a UN spokesman confirmed the receipt of the letter and announced that the name change would take effect immediately upon receipt of the letter yesterday (Wednesday).
