Daria Trepova’s arrest has raised questions about her background and ties to politics.
Trepova, 26, is being investigated by Russian authorities as the alleged material author of the murder of Russian blogger Vladlen Tatarsky, whose real name was Maxim Fomin, 40, a supporter of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Tatarsky died this Sunday while he was in a cafe in Saint Petersburg.
The Russian media claim that Trepova was the one who gave Tatarsky a small sculpture with explosives that when they exploded ended their life.
In a video released by the Russian Interior Ministry, Trepova is seen admitting that she brought the statuette to the cafe where the explosion took place. But her statement was most likely obtained under duress, and she also doesn’t say anything about whether she knew she was carrying the explosives.
Las Russian authorities say the murder was planned from territory ukrainian and that the suspect is a supporter of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), led by imprisoned Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny.
But her friends and family say that while Trepova is a peace activist, reportedly detained at a protest early in the war, are position no era radical and that he is incapable of killing someone.

“I think my wife was cheated on”, Rylov told SVTV News, implying that she could not have committed the murder voluntarily. “I’m 100 percent sure she would never have agreed to something like this if she had known about it.”
“Yes, it is true that neither of us supports the war in Ukraine. But We believe that this type of act is inadmissible“said the suspect’s husband.
Russian investigators have reportedly not ruled out the possibility that Trepova did not know what the statuette contained.
In addition, the Russian media claim that the young kept an exchange by correspondence with the victim of the explosion and that he attended events in which the victim had participated.
