Star Newspaper writer Halime Kökçe was born in 1974 in Karaağaç (Raşot) village of Rize. She completed her primary school in Izmit and her secondary and high school education in Fatih Girls’ High School in Istanbul. She graduated from Mimar Sinan University, Department of Sociology in 1997 with the thesis “Headscarf Acts as an Example of Civil Disobedience”. His thesis was published in the journal East West. She started her master’s degree at the Department of Sociology at the Middle East Technical University in 1998, only able to complete it 11 years later due to the headscarf ban, and graduated in 2009 with the thesis titled “Two Transformative Actors of Turkish Politics: Justice and Development Party and Kurds”. She taught philosophy group classes at a college for one year in 1999. He started journalism in the Journal of Real Life in 2000. Until 2007, he worked as an editor and then as the editor-in-chief of Gerçek Hayat Magazine. Since 2007, he has been the editor of the opinion supplement of Star Newspaper, Açık Görüş, and has been a columnist for Star newspaper and especially TV commentator for TRT 1. At the same time, he is doing his doctorate in Marmara University Middle East Studies Institute, Middle East Sociology and Anthropology. He has a book called AK Party and Kurds. She contributed to the books “Palestine-Women Wrote” and “Woman Was There”. Halime Kökce is married and has two children.
