After five long days of formalization, which were marked by the clashes between the magistrate and Juan Pablo Hermosilla (lawyer and brother of Luis), the judge made the aforementioned decision before the “serious and well-founded suspicion that they are obstructing the investigation“.
The career of Judge Mariana Leyton
Mariana Leyton She is 45 years old, originally from the commune of Buin and has developed a distinguished career in the judicial field, where she has played an important role in the trial against former mayor Vitacura, Raul Torrealba and in the case of Hernan Calderon Argandoñawho was charged with attempted parricide.
To achieve this, the judge studied law at the University of Concepción and later obtained a master’s degree in criminal law from the University of Talca and the University of Pompeu Fabra.
She joined the judiciary in 2009, when she served as a substitute judge of the family court of Concepción; substitute rapporteur of the Court of Appeals of Chillán and substitute judge of the family court of Puente Alto.
The following year, she took up the position of rapporteur of the Court of Appeals of Arica and in July 2011 she led formalization hearings. After that, she was sworn in as a titular judge of the Oral Criminal Court of Arica in May 2016.

Regarding one of the most recent cases, Judge Leyton issued an arrest warrant against the former general manager of the factoring company Primus Capital. Francisco Coeymans, triggering an international alert after he was absent from the hearing on April 3 to formalize charges against him for the crimes of fraud, disloyal administration, malicious use of a false private commercial instrument and money laundering. This led to Coeymans’ arrest on April 12 of this year by the Peruvian police, according to Ex-Ante.
