The initiative committee “Selo Gara Elin Pelin”, which organized the meeting for Thursday, distributed the seven questions that people want to ask the authorities.

– Who are the persons responsible for the nightmarish incident?

– Why does such a warehouse function 500 meters from people’s homes and who allowed its construction without asking the people living there?

– After the incident – will the warehouse for “firearms, ammunition and fireworks for civilian use” of “Enigma” EOOD receive permission to carry out repair work, re-construction and resumption of its activity in the future on the territory of the settlement and between the two settlements places as it was until now?

– In the event that the company “Enigma” EOOD receives permission for future operation, at what distance from the properties of the residential buildings?

People insist that in the future, all subsequent investment projects should be illuminated, and that the municipality should publish a daily report on its activities.

Almost 2 weeks after the explosion at the pyrotechnic warehouses near Elin Pelin, the temperature at the site is dropping and allowing investigators to conduct inspections, but the degrees of tension between local people and the authorities are rising. People are demanding information about the causes of the tragedy and who will cover the damage to their homes. To get answers, they are initiating a meeting with the local government this Thursday. An invitation to this effect has also been sent to Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov, writes “Frognews”.

On Tuesday evening, however, the local government organized a meeting with the people, which some of them boycotted, says a report on Nova TV. “There are several people who are constantly dissatisfied and constantly try to look for political effects or defects,” answered the mayor of the municipality Ivaylo Simeonov.

More than 70 houses are damaged. Five of them have cracked plasters, three have cracked walls, but an expert needs to identify it. Of these 70 houses, 62 have broken windows, the mayor pointed out.

“I know many people who repaired their windows themselves without dealing with the complicated documentation,” Eliza Alexandrova told Nova TV.

Mayor Simeonov explained that the municipality is ready to help the citizens with half the amount, and the remaining funds will be distributed when a commission for disasters and accidents is convened.

“We are sure that the municipality simply did not honor our invitation to a meeting,” Alexandrova believes. Residents in the area are also asking why the dangerous warehouse is only 750 meters from their homes. According to the mayor, the legal decree is a perimeter of 600 meters. “These are not permits issued by the municipality, but by DNSK”, he clarified.

The municipality of Elin Pelin has submitted a proposal to revise the minimum distance of such facilities from populated areas.

The warehouse tragedy happened on July 25. Four people died.
