As we reported, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on entrusting Seyyad Salahli with the temporary performance of the position of the chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Day.Az presents the dossier of the new chairman:

Sayyad Salahli was born on January 15, 1952 in Imishli district.

He graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and the Faculty of Law of Baku State University. He is a doctor of philosophy in philological sciences

In 1972-1989, he was engaged in pedagogical activity. In 1992-1995, he was the first deputy editor-in-chief of “Ses” newspaper.

On October 9, 2006, S. Salahli, who was a deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan during the first and second convocations in 1995-2005, was given the diplomatic rank of first-class extraordinary and plenipotentiary envoy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In 2006-2010, he was the Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Istanbul, Turkey.

From 2012 until today, he held the position of the first deputy chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

He was awarded the “Progress” medal by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 21, 2005, the honorary title “Honored Journalist” by the decree dated July 20, 2015, and the “Fame” order by the decree dated January 14, 2022.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union. He is the author of five political-journalistic and four fiction books.

He is married, has 3 children and 7 grandchildren.
