Watan Al-Youm – The Cabinet decided to approve the formation of a team to negotiate with the World Bank on a draft additional financing agreement for a comprehensive, transparent and climate change-responsive investment program.
The Cabinet’s decision comes with the aim of obtaining additional financing of $600 million for the results-oriented program to enhance a comprehensive and transparent regulatory environment for business in the public and private sectors, support the business environment and enhance the ability to compete to attract new investments.
The source added, “The formed negotiation team is chaired by the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and its membership includes: Secretary General of the Prime Ministry, Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance, Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment, Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism.
The team also includes; Director General of the Purchasing Department, Director General of the Tenders Department, Director General of the Department of Statistics, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Director of the Government Investment Management Unit, and Director of the International Cooperation Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is noteworthy that the program began, funded by the World Bank, in mid-2021, and aims to stimulate public and private investment in Jordan and help it provide more job opportunities by taking advantage of its economic potential, especially opportunities for green growth, and strengthening government accountability mechanisms for implementation.
