The Iranian Ministry of Interior announced the victory of candidate “Massoud Pezeshkian” in the second round of the presidential elections.
According to the Interior Ministry’s data, “Bezeshkian” received 16,384,403 votes, compared to 13,538,179 votes for candidate “Saeed Jalili.”
Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi said, “Massoud Pezeshkian is the ninth president elected by the Iranian people in the 14th presidential term.”
“The elections were conducted with precision, transparency, clarity and success,” Vahidi said during a press conference, expressing his thanks to “everyone who participated and worked to make the electoral process a success.”
He stated Iranian President-elect, Masoud Pezeshkian, After winning the elections, he said: “We extend a hand of friendship to everyone and we are all sons of this country,” and thanked his supporters for their efforts, saying: “I am not supported by a party or group, and the people are the ones who elected me.”
It is noteworthy that the elected President “Massoud Pezeshkian” is the ninth President of Iran. He is an Iranian reformist physician and politician who was born in 1954 in the city of Mahabad in West Azerbaijan Province, northeastern Iran. Pezeshkian completed his primary education in Mahabad and then joined the Institute of Agriculture in the city of Urmia. He obtained a diploma in the field of food industries. In 1985, he began working in the Faculty of Medicine as a physiology teacher. In 1990, he obtained a specialty in general surgery from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Then, in 1993, he obtained a specialty in heart surgery from Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. In 1994, he was appointed President of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, and his presidency continued until 2000, then he was transferred to Tehran, and assumed the position of Deputy Minister of Health in the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education for 6 months.
Then, in the second term of Mr. Mohammad Khatami’s presidency, Pezeshkian took over the position of Minister of Health, and in 2016 he managed to win a seat in the parliamentary elections and maintained his seat in parliament for many years, and since 2008, Pezeshkian has represented the city of Tabriz in parliament.
The second round of the Iranian presidential elections started yesterday and was extended 3 times from 6:00 pm to 12:00 pm, for two hours each time.
Iran witnessed early presidential elections approved by the republican authorities after the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19.
