- Muhammad Wasim Jamal Khader Abu Shaaban, nicknamed “Abu Anas,” worked as an aide to former Hamas leader Saeed Siam in Gaza, and then worked as an aide to the movement’s leader Ismail Haniyeh until he was killed with him.

- Activists said that Wassim Abu Shaaban is the hero of the famous video that documented the moment a Qassam fighter beat an Israeli soldier at the Nahal Oz military site, during a raid in 2014.
- Abu Shaaban participated in carrying out a suicide operation against the Israeli military site east of the Shuja’iyya neighborhood in Gaza City. At that time, 9 elite Qassam fighters were able to carry out a landing operation behind the Israeli army lines, in which they attacked a fortified military tower belonging to the “Nahal Oz” battalion, which contained a large number of soldiers, and eliminated everyone inside.
Abu Shaaban’s body is expected to be buried in a funeral procession that will set off today, Thursday, from the Iranian capital, Tehran, along with the body of Ismail Haniyeh, with the presence of the people and factions and the participation of Arab and Islamic leaders, before they are transferred to the Qatari capital, Doha, tomorrow afternoon. The funeral prayer will be held in the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque after Friday prayers, and then they will be buried in the cemetery of the founding Imam in Lusail.
