Voter Credential Renewal in Mexico
The elections are over, but your voter credential, also known as the INE, must always be current and updated to serve as official identification. If your INE is from 2023, even if you voted in the June 2024 elections, it is no longer valid as of June 3rd. It’s time to make an appointment at your nearest National Electoral Institute (INE) module and renew it.
Do you need to renew your INE?
Here’s how to check:
- Visit the official INE website: www.ine.mx
- Go to the “Check your Credential” section.
- Enter your credential number and any additional information requested to verify validity.
You can also check the expiration year on the back of your ID. If it reads 2023, it’s time for renewal.
How to renew your INE:
- Make an appointment at your nearest INE module.
- Gather the required documents: birth certificate, photo ID (previous INE can be used), and proof of address.
- When you arrive for your appointment, inform the advisor that you need to renew your INE due to expiration and follow their instructions.
Additional Information:
- If your INE has expired but only needs space for marking the vote, you need to renew it.
- The INE renewal process is free.
