What intrigues Inter at the moment, when playing with the starters, is who will play and where.
This is because the options that arrived change the team’s appearance a little. Fernando and Thiago Maia can play as first midfielders, their role, Aranguiz and Bruno Henrique in the second (although I still have the same perception about Bruno Henrique), and then, within Coudet’s usual scheme, there would be two places left for midfielders, and two attackers.
Alan Patrick has played as a striker since Coudet arrived, and moves him into the middle in games that need a result against teams looking to defend more, largely due to Aranguiz also playing as a central midfielder.
With Thiago Maia and Fernando, I believe that both have more marking ability, and with Aranguiz as second midfielder, a position in which he has always stood out, and where he always made the first midfielder play more, the team gains more body in the middle, and Alan Patrick can play more free from marking functions.
The change in Wanderson’s positioning, more towards the middle and with the function of composition and defense, also happened due to Alan Patrick playing more free to score, which can be supplied with markers more accustomed to the role.
Then we could have a midfield with Thiago Maia, Aranguiz, Alan Patrick and Wanderson or Maurício, as I think Borré and Valencia will be the starters in attack, and Alario will be there for more complicated matches in which Inter need a finisher in the area, especially on the ball aerial.
My preference is for Wanderson, who is already more used to marking and composing, and because he has more speed than Maurício, allowing the team to have three players with good speed, Valencia, Borré and Wanderson.
Of course, Bernabei’s arrival could change this a little, as the news is of a full-back who really likes to attack and has speed, being able to occupy the left wing with coverage from the midfielders.
The fact is that the arrival of the four players who were unable to play in Gauchão allows changes to the scheme and the positions that the players occupied, but there still remains a problem for which I don’t see much of a solution.
Inter remains without much alternative to the absence of Alan Patrick, who, of course, will not play all the matches, and we don’t have another player with his characteristics in the squad. I’m not talking about playing all the matches in the three championships that we are still playing in, but rather all of the Brasileirão.
That’s why it’s necessary to think of a scheme in which either Maurício or Gustavo Prado, the best news of the year coming from the base, can come in and make the midfield work with movement instead of Alan Patrick’s dribbling, even considering that Maurício should be sold in the middle of the year.
In other positions, perhaps not at the same level and with the same experience, but we have substitutes who can do the job in all positions. The problem, if it is a problem to have too many players for midfield and attack, is tactical, and Coudet cannot complain about options.
