(Owais Kayani) There has been significant progress in the matter of continuing the import of wheat in the current government, the import of wheat was revealed while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was the Minister of Food.
According to the sources, wheat was imported while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was the Minister of Food. At the time of the wheat import in March, the Prime Minister was the minister in charge of the Food Ministry. The Prime Minister gave the additional portfolio of National Food Security to Federal Minister Rana Tanveer on April 3. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was the Minister in charge of National Food Security till the month.

According to official data, 691 thousand 136 metric tons of wheat were imported in the first month of the current government, 2758 thousand 226 metric tons of wheat were imported during the caretaker period, in March 2024, wheat worth 57 billion 192 million rupees was imported. 225 billion 783 million rupees worth of wheat was imported till February of this financial year.
The official data further shows that a total of 34 lakh 49 thousand 436 metric tons of wheat was imported till March of this financial year, wheat worth 282 billion 97 crore 50 lakh rupees was imported till March of this financial year.
